Samurai Anime — *the things I notice from inside anime fandom about how the industry actually works*.

Most anime coverage falls into two camps. The first is fan service: episode recaps, hot takes, sakuga compilations. The second is industry trade press written by people who do not love anime and treat it as just another commodity. Neither matches what I actually want to read.

I have been inside this fandom for fifteen years, from late-night BitTorrent trackers to streaming licensing wars to the current era of anime IP showing up in slot machines and gacha apps. I write what I notice from inside. The industry analysis is honest. The fan perspective is honest. When the anime-iGaming crossover is bad, I say so. When the production committee system makes a series possible that would not otherwise exist, I say that too. Field notes from someone who never stopped being a fan but did learn to read a balance sheet.
